PRESENTATIONS TO SOLDIERS
SPRINGSTON SOUTH Residents of Springston and Springston South met in the Springston South Memorial Hall to say good-bye to Private Garland, who has enlisted. Mr P. V. Bailey presented the guest of honour with a fountain-pen. Other speakers were the Rev. Mr Cottom and Mr J. S. Simpson. Musical items were given by Mrs hj Dulieu, Miss T. Riordan, Mr M. Ryan, Mr Crockett, and the-Springston Sunshine Club. Dance music was supplied by Mr C. Wallace, Mr Crockett, and Miss Molly Riordan. Messrs M. Ryan and C. Hey wood were masters of ceremonies. Monte Carlos were won by Private and Mrs Garland and Mr and Mrs H. S. Fletcher. GIFTS SENT FROM HANMER A presentation from the citizens of Hanmer was made yesterday to Private H. M. Farrow, of the -nd Echelon, who was unable to be present when other - soldiers were being honoured. Mrs D. Manson, who made the presentation. said that gifts had been sent to six other soldiers who were unable to be present. These were Privates W. Brown, A. Pocock. T. Faith, M. Roache, J. Penrose, and D. Gunn.
