WEST OLD BOYS WIN CHAMPIONSHIP With the exception of a possible replay in a senior B match between Shirley and Harewood, the Suburban Cricket Association competitions were concluded on Saturday. West Old Boys secured a first innings win against Beckenham, and won the senior grade competition by- a margin of 24 points. Beckenham was second, 12 points ahead of Spreydon. The following table shows the position of the teams;—

WEST OLD BOYS V. BECKENHAM With a lead of 51 in the first, innings against Beckenham, West Old Boys c°mpiled 178 in the second innings. F Murray (55) was top scorer, and R. Evans 31, F. Porteous 26, and D. Moynihan 25, batted well. With 230 to make to win, Beckenham played out time and lost nine wicklts for 103, and West Old Boys won by 51 runs on the first innings. SUNNYSIDE Having no bearing on the championship. the match between Shirley and Sunnyside was abandoned at the conclusion of Shirley’s first innings. Shirley, with three wickets down for 135, carried the first innings score to 276. E. Grenfell 71' and J. Cowie 10. the not out batsmen, carried the score to 166 when Cowie was bowled by Gordon. Grenfell just failed to- reach his century, being caught by Mackrell a few yards off the boundary when his score had reached 97. N. Priest had a merry Innings for 41 in the closing stages of the innings, which assumed a oicnlc atmosphere when Sunny side’s total had been passed. Shirley won by 78 runs on the first Innings. With three down for 103 Spreydon continued the first innings against Railway. Spreydon looked to be in a winning position when J. Hall and V. Freeman thrashed the bowling to add 60 to the first day’s total before a separation was effected. Four were down for 163, but with the dismissal of the pair Spreydon’s batting slumped. Ducks were frequent In the tail-enders' total. The innings closed for 195. Railway put on 98 for seven in the second innings before declaring, W. Gill batting well for 42. With an hour to bat Spreydon went for a hit and wickets fell rapidly, the side being all out in 40 minutes for 66. Railway won by 105 runs.
