BOOK VAN TO BEGIN CIRCUIT NEXT WEEK The book van of the Country Library Service will leave Christchurch next week on its first 1940 circuit of the South Island. During four months ol travelling, the Field Librarian (Mr BJ. Lorimer) will visit more than 150 libraries, changing stock_ and giving assistance to local librarians. Mr Lorimer’s first two calls wilLh® made at Wigram and Burnham. *o2* Country Library Service has been ml ministering the supply of books training camps, defence units. aftd troopships and. in the case of the larger camps, has been supplementing gifts of books by loans from its own stocks on the van. Libraries for troops are an innovation that is being appreciated; books on' all subjects are available. _ Most of next week will be spent m visiting libraries in the Ellesmere district and on Banks Peninsula. The van will then proceed north over the Lewis Pass" to the West Coast and Nelson. '
