LABOUR MEMBER’S VIEWS ON WAR
FURTHER COMMENT FROM MR F. L. FROST CJEESB ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) NEW PLYMOUTH, February 3. “My statement in ‘To-morrow’ contains no comfort for Mr Poison,” said Mr F. L. Frost, M.P., when he was asked to-day if he had any comment to make on the remarks of Mr W. J. Poison, M.P. “The suggestion that I should be suppressed,” said Mr Frost, “shows that my political neighbour is hot altogether devoid of the Nazi mentality. There will be ample opportunity in the proper place to answer more fully Mr Poison’s outburst, but I should like to make some observations at. the moment. “Mr Poison’s ‘political truce’ is amusing. It is only a few days ago that the Minister for Finance had to deal with a misleading statement by him, which was definitely calculated to destroy confidence in the Government. What changes of heart come when political advantage seems possible! “I shudder to think of what would happen' if Mr Poison was in power at the moment. Would he go all the way with Hitler and forbid New Zealanders to listen to Berlin and Moscow on pain of suppression? It certainly looks like it.”
