WOMEN’S 200 METRES BACKSTROKE

Miss Joyce Macdonald broke the New Zealand women’s 200 metres backstroke record by 3 4-ssec, reducing the time to 2min 56 sire" made the previous record at Gisborne in salt water, which is claimed to be three seconds in 100 yards faster than the fresh water in which to-night’s record was made. She broke the Southland record by 31 l-ssec.
DRAW FOR WATER POLO JUNIOR FINAL
The draw for the final round of the water polo competitions to be held at the Tepid Baths on Monday, commencing at 7 p.m., has been announced by the Canterbury Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association as follows; Juniors —7 p.m., Christchurch United v. Linwood (Mr M. Rattray): 7.25 p.m.. East Christchurch v. Somerfleld (Mr L. Annand); 7.55 p.m., Philipstbwn v. Sydenham (Mr G. Laurie). 8.20 p.m.—Senior practice (Mr G. Laurie). -
