MINER FINED FOR THEFT
[From Our Own Reporter] WESTPORT, January 2. James Long, aged 41, a coal miner of Denniston, was convicted and fined for the theft of £2 10s, the property of Mrs Bertha Sherlock, in the Magistrate’s Court to-day, hy Messrs A. Taylor and F. H, Morgan, Justices of the Peace. He was ordered to pay witnesses’ expenses, and the money recovered is to be returned to the owner. . The police evidence showed that Long took money fronf a hotel, till when'the licensee. Mrs Jsherlock. was out of the bar for a few minutes.
