UNIFICATION OF IRELAND
SOLUTION SUGGESTED BY MR DE VALERA “TRANSFER TO BRITAIN OF BRITISH LOYALISTS” (Received December 14, 10,30 p.m.} DUBLIN, December 14. Mr Eamonn de Valera has been elected president of the Fianna Fail. He said, “The last war will be small compared with the present one. “The Irish would pray for a quick settlement, but it is difficult, even with the best goodwill, to indicate a method by which this could be effected. All the nations might exert themselves to try to settle the conflict by conference, but it is most difficult to prevent each nation from using the threat of strength. “I wish I could speak for all Ireland. Force is being used against unification and the Irish should not forget it. A solution of the problem could be found by transferring Brilish loyalists from Ulster to Britain.”
