APPLICATION FOE LOANS

AMURI COUNTY COUNCIL MEETS It was decided at the monthly meeting of the Amuri County Council to apply for sanction for the raising of the following loans:—Balmoral waterrace loan of £7OO for meeting the cost of taking over the control of the Balmoral races, reconstructing flumes, and carrying out improvements to the main

race; bridges loan of £2OOO, for constructing the following bridges: Shingle Creek £250, Upper Stanton £250. Lower Stanton £250, Fitzgerald’s £250, Mason £750, and Deadman’s Creek £250. (In all cases the amount represents the council’s share for the work.) Red Post-Rotherham sealing loan £2500. preparing and sealing the Red Post to Rotherham section of the Waipara-Kaikoura via Culverden main highway. The secretary, Waiau branch, Farmers’ Union, wrote advising that Messrs T. H. Belton, D. McLean, and G. T. White were appointed to represent the Waiau district on the board of trustees for the management of soldiers’ farms. . The postmaster, Waiau, wrote stating that his department was prepared to

promise an additional hour’s attendance (between 9 and 10 a.m.) on Sundays if the subscribers were prepared to pay an additional iee of 2s 6d each per annum. x . It was decided to ask the State Forest Department, the Health Department, and the sam.tary Inspector to meet representatives of the council in Hanmer Springs with a view to finding a more suitable site for tipping rubbish. .
