WAITIKIRI LADIES’ CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL
The final of the women’s senior championship, between Miss Helen Buchanan and Mss Zoe Hudson was played yesterday over 36 holes. The morning round finished of! square. Miss Buchanan established an early lead at the beginning of the first half, but Miss Hudson regained her position to finish oil square at the eighteenth. The afternoon round produced excellent golf and Miss Buchanan established a lead, winning the second and third holes to be 2 up. A bogey at the eighth gave her another win. making her 3 up at the twenty-seventh. Her figures lor this half were 37 to Miss Hudson’s 41. Miss Buchanan lodged another win at the thirty-first hole, where she secured a par 5; at the thirty-fourth. Miss Hudson regained a hole with a par 4, against Miss Buchanan’s 5. The next hole was halved in 5, leaving Miss Buchanan the winner. 3 up and 1. Miss Buchanan owed her success to her accurate play round the greens and her deadly putting. Miss Valerie Fleming, who held the cup last year, did not compete this year.
CHRISTCHURCH LADIES’ CLUB
The Christchurch Ladies’ Golf 'Club played a bogey bisque match at Shirley yesterday. Mrs T. Armstrong won in the silver medal division, and Mrs Parsonson won in the bronze medal division. The following were the best scores:—
Silver Medal—Mrs T. Armstrong. 1 up; Mrs D. S. McLean, all square; Mrs A. S. Geddes, all square; Miss B. Rutherford, 2 down; Mrs D. H. Butcher, 2 down; Mrs M. H. Godby, 3 down; Miss Cracroft Wilson, 4 down; Mrs Boon, 4 down; Mrs G. van Asch, 4 down. Bronze Medal—Mrs Parsonson, 1 down; Miss J. B. Wilkin, 4 down; Mrs S. Bowron, 4 down; Miss B. Webb. 4 down; Mrs J. S. Middleton, 4 down; Mrs G. Hamilton, 5 down; Miss B. Tonkin, S down; Mrs M. Armstrong, 5 down; Mrs S. P. Godfrey, 5 down.
