HOKITIKA AERO CLUB

FUTURE POLICY OUTLINED Mr H. T. Lawn, who presided at a meeting of the Hokitika Aero Club, outlined the future policy. Some difference of opinion, he said, had been expressed on this subject. At the previous meeting it had been suggested that the club subscription should be reduced from one guinea to 10s 6d per annum, but since the Hokitika Aero Club had not for some time taken any part on the flying side of aero club activities, he felt that it was in a different position from that of the Greymouth Club. The club’s social activities had been well maintained, and these, with other considerations, showed that members were now receiving better value for their subscription than ever before. There were various proposals for future social activities, and in the circumstances he felt that the subscription was a most reasonable one. Mr Lawn was supported by other members, and it was finally resolved to defer any alteration in the annual subscription until the next annual general meeting. , Some 18 months ago a scheme was introduced to enable the hangar and club rooms to be financed, and in view of the decision of the pßfvious meeting to suspend construction, it was decided to refund the amounts subscribed by members. Mr Lawn stated that the response to the scheme had been exceptionally good. At the request of the secretary, it was agreed to relieve him of his duties, and the appointment of his successor was deferred until the next meeting.
