Jtfr R., McGillivray, Fields Superintendent of the Department 'of Agriculture, will leave for Timaru ' to-day. He will probably return to Christchurch to-morrow. Dr. A. L. M. Perry was a passenger for Wellington by the steamer express, last evening. Mr W. F. Herrick, general secretary of the Commercial Travellers’ and, Warehousemen’s Association, has left on a trip to Samoa. The Hon. J. K. Archer, M.L.C., returned to Christchurch from the North. Island yesterday morning. Mr J. H. Gilbert, general traffic manager of th~ Union Steam Ship Company, arrived in Christchurch by the south express last night. He will leave for Wellington to-morrow night by the steamer express. Presentations were made yesterday by the officer in charge of the Valuation Department (Mr F. K. Tucker) to Messrs A. E. Caselberg and W.' E. H. Docherty, who have been transferred from the Christchurch office of the department. Mr Caselberg has been transferred to the department’s Nelson office and Mr Docherty will join the National Broadcasting Service, Christchurch. The retirement of Sir William Perry as represervative of the producers on the Meat Board was referred to by the chairman (Mr T A Duncan) at the annual meeting of delegates’. Sir William had been one of the most solid supporters of the organisation and the most helpful, said Mr Duncan. The board and delegates had decided to present him with an illuminated address. The address was signed by every member of the board and every delegate of the electoral committee.
