LICENCES EOR TRANSPORT
APPLICATIONS DEALT WITH YESTERDAY Applications for renewals, amendments, and transfers of existing licences, and for new licences, were, dealt with by the No. 3- Transport Licensing Authority (Mr T. H. Langl- - yesterday. The following renewals to May 31, 1942, were granted: L. S. Radford, Little River, goods service licence. An amendment extending the area to Christchurch for the cartage of stock one day a week, from August 15, 1939, to.May 15, 1940, was refused. G. B. and W. H. Rout, Little River, goods service licence, with amendment providing for the addition of Akaroa County for the cartage of Public Works materials on the job; E. Haines, Okains Bay, seasonal goods service licence; T. W. Mora, Okains Bay, goods, service licence; M. E Packer, Wheatsheaf Hotel, Teddington; A. L. Wakelin, Little River; the Minister for Railways, passenger service licence for the Arthur’s Pass to Christchurch route; E. E. P. Williams. Somerfield, Christchurch. Transfers Approved The following transfers were approved:—P. L. Armstrong’s goods service licence to Transport (North Canterbury), Ltd., Rangiora; W. J. O. Turner’s goods service licence to J A. Pain, Cheviot. Decisions Reserved The authority reserved his decision in the following cases:—E. Kinghorn, Pigeon Bay, application for new
goods service licence; British Pavements (Canterbury), Ltd., application lor new goods service licence for cartage of road materials in the South Island except Southland; G. M. Hare, Waipara, application for .renewal of goods service licence; Smart and Sons, Hornby, renewal of goods service licence with an amendment enabling deviation from the main route as required to deliver oil, petrol, and kerosene to customers of Dalgety and Company; W. W. Reid, Akaroa, renewal of goods service licence; A. J. Read, renewal, of goods service with amendments removing the restriction of two tons on pay load capacity on the Akaroa-Christchurch route, and permitting . higher charges; Kay Brothers, Duvauchelle, renewal of goods service licence, Montgomery and Sons, Southbridge, were refused a new goods service licence for cartage of farm produce and timber in the Ellesmere district, T. W. Elliott, Addington, was granted an amendment to his present licence, to include two additional vehicle authorities for the cartage of racehorses between Kaikoura and tne Rangitata river.
