DEATHS FROM NATURAL CAUSES

VERDICTS • RETURNED BY CORONER 1

Several inquests on persons whose deaths were found to be due to natural causes were heard by the Coroner, Mr E. C. Levvey, S'.M., yesterday afternoon. In each case a verdict was returned in accordance with the findings of a post-mortem examination conducted by the pathologist at the Christchurch. Public Hospital (Dr. A. B. Pearson).

The Coroner found that the death of Mary Margaret McLennan, aged 14, at, the MoUnt Magdala.'Home on July 19 was due to meningitis following suppurative inflammation of the middle ear. ' '

Hilda Maud Carter, aged 42, a married woman, of 67 Bury street, Sumner, was found .to have died iri the Hollywood Theatre, Sumner, oh July 10, from heart failure due to myocardial degeneration and general arterial degeneration. . , V The Coroner found that an unknown male child, who was found in the Heathcote river, near Ashgrove. terrace, on May 7, had died from heart failure associated with hemorrhage on the surface of-the brain, apparently caused by an accident or other injuries during birth. The death of Andrew Baird, aged about 61, a retired hotelkeeper, of 39 Dunns road, in the Christchurch Hospital. on July 23, was found to be due to heart failure following on a diabetic coma and pyelonephritis.
