Again, Mr Marshall says, “the reporter tries to. deride the the Sunnyside team.” This, if -you like, is purest Action. Once again the penalty try was “infamous.” Why was it infamous? Did Mr Marshall see the ~; play that led to it? If he did, then he does not know what he is - talking - - about. The University wing. Fountain, , had kicked the ball some distance over . the goal-line and was following up to, > recover and touch down, when . a was deliberately charged down by a Sunnyside player. It was a clear case , of illegal tackle. “Infamous.” Rubbish! ' If it were “infamous” why did not the club protest to the union against the • referee’s ruling? It might have given the club the game. I am sure your report of the game would be endorsed by nearly all who saw the game; and the Maroons have no need to entertain any feelings of disgust. ■ . ■ . Sunnyside played one of the cleanest, brightest, best games of the season, and the team deserves a whole heap of credit for the splendid showing It put up.
