TROOPS ENGAGE REBELS IN PALESTINE

LARGE QUANTITY OF ARMS SEIZED LONDON, August 20. It is stated that at least 15 brigands were killed and a large quantity of arms were seized in a fight between British troops and armed gangs north-west of Tiberias. Four British soldiers were wounded. The Jerusalem correspondent of “The Times” states that, in the course of suppressing a revival of the revolt. Lieutenant C. Rivett-Car-nac, of the Sherwood Foresters, two Jews, one Arab, and 15 rebels were killed, and three privates were wounded in a skirmish at Deirhannah after the dispersal of 40 rebels, 10 of whom were wounded.

Lieutenant Clive Rivett-Carnac was a son of the late Mr C. J. RivettCarnac and Mrs Rivett-Carnac, of England. He was a second cousin of Commodore J. W. Rivett-Carnac, Commodore Commanding the New Zealand Squadron of , the Royal Navy. Lieutenant Rivett-Carnac was educated at .Winchester and Sandhurst and left Sandhurst about five years ago.
