WEIGHING FACILITIES FOR FARMERS
DISCUSSION BY ASHBURTON EXECUTIVE Considerable discussion of the facilities available in the Ashburton County for weighing produce was beard at the monthly meeting of the Mid-Can-terbury Provincial Executive of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union yester■?he Ashburton County Council wrote asking for the opinion of the executive on the proposal to erect a weighbridge at Ashburton at a cost of about £IOOO.-, ' It was decided to reject the proposal because the cost was considered to be out of proportion to the utility-of the machine to farmers generally. On the suggestion of Mr H. C- B. Withell, it was decided to ask thd Railway Department to provide scales at all stations which had a goods shed.
