REDUCING NOISE IN BRITAIN
LIMIT ON MOTOR HORNS* OUTPUT t oamsH orticux wian,Esa.) RUGBY, July 19. An agreement reached between the Minister for Transport (Mr H. M. Burgin) and the manufacturers of motor horns will limit the noise output of horns in the future. . An undertaking has been given to the Minister that after October 1 the manufacturers will not offer for sale instruments with a loudness, under specified test conditions,, exceeding 100 phons, except in'the case of the wind-driven type of instrument, for which, the figure will be 105 phons. Vehicle manufacturers will cooperate by fitting only horns which comply with the agreed standard. .
