RESIGNATION ; OF - REV. D. GARDNER MILLER 0 g . VAdANCY CONSIDERED BY r MEETING A well-attended and enthusiastic meeting* rf member# of the Trinity Church -was held on Tuesday evening ,to consider the vacancy by the resignation ■ of the Bev. D. Gardner Miller. It was decided by a -unanimous vote to ask the Qipwiiti Missionary Society, in conjunction with, the Moderator of the Hew Zealand Union, the Bey.. Harry Johnson, now in England, to procure a preacher of outstanding ability to fill the vacancy. Messrs.Ai M. Owen. H. Hetheringtoff. B. MeOuehan Freeman; and H. Sturge were elected to fill the vacanries on the diaconate and Mr G. N. Hayley was appointed a life deacon. , «th» newly-appointed treasurer, Mr Owen, presented a statement sbowmg a deficiency for the six months ended June 30. of £lO6 13s 2d, making a total debit of £237 8s 2d. Mortgages on church prapcrV amounted to - £351)0. £OOO of which had been raised during the last 10 years. Plans were made to the debt before the arrival of a new minister. ■ ~ , It was reported that the Ladies GteML under the leadershio of Mrs |sefb»rine*oTi r had initiated ft newifwifijw campaign. " The guild had some very successful meetings' at which plans' were laid and work done to help - the church finances. Bilr W. Wilkinson, the church secretary brought encouraging messages ftwnt the Congregational Union and fism local churches of other denominltoßlurimd a very concrete offer of hejn in 'supplying the piilnit by ministers of the Methodist Church.
