For WOMEN
RECEPTION OF WELCOME
UNIVERSITY WOMEN MEET In the grey room at Beath's yesterday afternoon, members of the Canter-' bury branch of the New Zealand Federation 'of University Women held a reception in honour of Miss E, F. Kershaw, of Wellington, who has been for many years a member and office-bear-er of the Federation, and who recently returned to the Dominion after a long visit to England and Europe. Miss Jenny I. Stewart, president of the Christchurch branch, welcomed Miss Kershaw, who gave an interesting address touching particularly on the comradeship amongst members of the federation in whatever country they might find themselves and on the hardships and misery now being suffered by thousands of men and women in Central Europe. She made a stirring appeal to fellow members of the Federation to do all in their power to help refugees who would come to New Zealand particularly from Czechoslovakia for the Czechs felt that they and their country had paid and paid dearly, the price of world peace.
