WARMONGERS

TO TIIK EDITOR OF THE FREES Sic, —in regard to war and warmongers, I have been privileged to read various pertinent extracts from The Intimate Papers of Colonel House, toaether with passages from the ‘ War Memoirs” of Mr Lloyd George, and other records of the world war. The fact that a Libera! rather than a Tory leader was in power in Britain during that period meant that the Government had the support of the Labour element, comprising the bulk of the soldiers and the sufferers. What is not generally known is that the Allies, dominated by the British War Cabinet, refused to end the war in 1917, when opportunity offered through the efforts of President Wilson of America, the great majority of the Russian people, and the Labour organisations of Germany, Laly, and Britain. , The rejection of the peace proposals put forward by those millions of sane, earnest people, resulted in another year of carnage and legalised murder of British soldiers. But the imperialist warmongers had already arranged the division of the spoils of victory, and the campaign fund of the Liberal Party had increased by £2,000,000, largely by selling titles to war profiteers. In an attempt, actually to prevent a peaceful settlement, Mr Balfour (no doubt in earning his peerage) incited the Japanese occupation of Russian territory, by methods calculated to ‘‘keep ourselves right with public opinion”—his own words. Further to hoodwink and keep the sunport of Labour, Mr Lloyd George, on January 18, 1018, promised to conscript wealth and nationalise the arms Industry! It was not till the Poles had been defeated—after being encouraged by Britain to attack Russia, that the Labour movement, by concerted action, forced the Government to allow peace to become established. Armaments are still being sent over-seas-manufactured by Labour, loaded by Labour, to subdue Labour! What is Christianity doing to-day? What of the armament profiteer?— Yours, etc., ' D. ROBERTSON. Oaro, May 27, 1939.
