CLUB NEWS
A Club With a Record Seventeen years ago, when Shipmates and Sunbeams \vere first Shipmates and Sunbeams, there w r as one Sunbeam called Sadie Hammersley. That was in the days when Sister Scatterjoy was in charge of the Children’s Pages. Later, some years after, Sadie’s nieces, Joan and Rae Hammersley, became Sunbeams, and later Shipmates. Now they, too, are nearly grown up. This week there is the first chapter of a splendid new serial, specially written for members by Joan. Joan was the leader of a club called the Enterprise Club, which did good work in its day. The other day a group of club members came in to see Lady Gay. And what do you think? Among the club members of this club were Joan and Rae’s younger sisters, and Michael, their youngest brother. So, right through 17 long years, members of this family have been Shipmates and Sunbeams. That is a good record, isn’t it? Lady Gay sends a very special greeting to the Enterprise Club. The leader of the new Enterprise Club is Rose Dufty, 226 Hill’s road, and Margaret Smith is secretary and treasurer. Joan Holloway is “Press” reporter. Other members are Winnie Holloway, Ruth Duffy, Mary Duffy, Jennifer Hammersley, and Michael Hammersley. Club colours are pale blue and cherry.
