LIGHT ON HUGH
The Morrison Myth. By H. S. Montgomerie. Privately printed. 55 pp. (1/3 net.) In his book, “William Bligh of the Bounty in Fact and Fable.” Mr Montgomerie expounded his conviction that the Journal of James Morrison, upon which so much of the evidence against .Bligh was founded, was neither trustworthy nor contemporaneous with the events which it described. The present pamphlet displays in additional detail the reasons for this opinion, and it vindicates confidently the character of the famous or infamous admiral. “Bounty” literature is astonishingly Copious, but few of its items are so definite and so really critical in their examination and collation of evidence. It is a pleasure to read a thesis so minutely argued and so firmly reasoned.
