THE REV. H. T. YORK
The funeral of the Rev. Herbert Thomas York, formerly vicar of St. Peter's Church, Upper Riccarton, was held on Sunday. A well-attended service at which many clergymen were present, was conducted by Bishop West-Watson at St. Peter’s Church. Assisting the Bishop were Dean Julius, Canon W. S. Bean, and the Rev. Eric Osmers. Children of the parish Sunday schools formed a guard of honour along a section of the path down which the procession moved. from the vicarage to the church. The bearers were present and past members of the vestry and members of the Bible classes. The choir sang two hymns, one at the graveside in the church grounds. Many messages of sympathy were sent by persons unable to attend the funeral. Wreaths were sent by members of lire family, by many parishioners and
friends, and by the choir, choir boys, St. James’ Divine Healing Fellowship, members of the Omicron Society, Sunday school children and parishioners of Coringa, parishioners of St. Peter’s parishioners of St. Luke’s (Yaldhurst), St. Peter's Sunday school, St. Luke’s Sundav school, St. Peter's boys’ and girls' Bible classes, the vestry and wardens of St. Luke’s and St. Peter’s; the Sunday school council, diocesan Bible class committee, Band of the Ist Battalion, Canterbury Regiment. St. Winifred's, and the New Zealand Bible Class Union.
