N.Z. EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTE
_ AFFILIATION WITH FEDERATION OF LABOUR DISCUSSED (PRE 33 ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) WELLINGTON, May 8. Possible affiliation with the Federation of Labour was briefly discussed at the annual conference of the New Zealand Educational Institute to-day. Mr A. Hanna (Otago) said that at the 1938 annual meeting there had been a report on affiliation with the federation, and he would like to know if . the subject would be discussed this year. Mr M. Riske (Wellington) drew attention to the report of proceedings at the previous annual meeting, which showed the following motion, moved by himself, to have been carried by 46 votes to 37: “That the matter of affiliation or not of the New Zealand Educational Institute to the Federation of Labour be held over till the annual meeting of 1939, and that the branches be asked again to. discuss the report.” The president (Mr T. Kane) said that the question might or might not be discussed. To ensure discussion the best method would be by notice of motion.
