TESTING-STATION EMPLOYEES
* CONBEHOKS OF AWARD Am award for employees in the mo-tor-vehicle inspection station of the Christchurch City Council has been made, after two sittings of a v Conciliation Council. \ ; ,■ Provision in the award is made far a 40-hooor week, estimated on a fourweekly period, such hours to be worked in accordance with a roster prepared tqp the station supervisor in, collabjoratien with the secretary of the upion. Overtime is to- be paid at the rake of tune and. a, half for the first three horns, and double time thereafter. An important clause in the> aw prd is one that covers a point that threatened to prevent an agreement being readied. It provides that the award covers; testhog station employees, and, in the'stafling, one motor mechanic, other than the superintendent, ;is to be employed In each and every lane or complete series of machines in use at the station for the testing of motor vehicles. Wages for mechanics are £5 12s 6d, and for other employees £5 7s 6d. The wages of the superintendent were held over for further consideration by the council committee. Two weeks? annual leave, on full pay : is provided In addition to all ordinary statutory holidays.; _ The assessors were:—Employers: Messrs H. E. Denton. T. Millitoen, E. Farlane, and J, D.
