THE WEATHER IN MARCH
* - CALM, DRY MONTH
RAINFALL WELL BELOW NORMAL March was generally a calm and dry month, according to the meteorological data prepared by the Christchurch Magnetic Observatory. The rainfall of 0.72 inches was well below the total of 1.929 inches, the normal fall for the month.
The mean temperature of 59.07 degrees was one degree higher than normal. This could be accounted for by the mild nights, as there was only one slight frost recorded for the month. The total sunshine recorded was 158.1 hours, this being slightly less than that normally recorded in March. Following'is a summary of the data:
