As recognition of their services to Bands of Hope in the Waimate district during 60 years, presentations were made on Monday evening to the Mayor and Mayoress, Mr and Mrs George Dash. Mr Dash, who is now patron of the Waimate Band of Hope, holds a membership card dated 1879. The programme during the evening was presented by the Willowbridge-Studholme group and the presentation to Mr Dash was made by the president of the Nukuroa group, Mr J. Murray.
