♦- ANNUAL MEETINGS ADDINGTON CLUB Mr C. Martin, who presided at the Addington Rugby League Club’s annual meeting, said that the season’s prospects had never been brighter, both from the playing and financial viewpoints. The bal-ance-sheet showed assets as £l6B 4s, and no liabilities, and among the 21 new members signed on was R. Chinnery, the Sunnyside and Canterbury three-quarters, who will play on the wing. There was an attendance of 80 members. The report said that the club had won eight trophies last year, including the Thacker Shield. Mr J. E. A. Amos, a member of the committee and a former Canterbury and New Zealand representative player, had been South Island member of the New Zealand selection committee and a Canterbury selector. R. Price had been included in the South Island team, and L. G. Young, W. I. Bonniface, A. Geddes. R. Price, Ray Ward. D. Wilson, and G. H. Briggs had been in the Cantcrbury representatives. Eleven of the club’s juniors had been in the junior representatives, 10 in the fourth grade representatives, and one in the schoolboys’ representative team. , Although opening day was officially fixed for last Saturday, a large number of players had been in hard training for a month, it was stated.
