TRENTHAM RACES

THOMPSON HANDICAP DAY

PROGRAMME FOR TO-MORROW

The autumn meeting of the Wellington Racing Club will open at Trentham to-morrow, when some well filled fields of good class horses will be paraded. The course benefited bylast week’s rain, and the going will be yielding without being holding. The principal event, the long-established Thompson Handicap, has attracted the usual strong field, representative of practically every racing centre in New Zealand, and, the same can ;be said of the Railway Handicap. Both races promise to be interesting. The New Zealand St. Leger Stakes has never drawn more than, a few runners, and there are only five remaining in tomorrow's field, but they make a well balanced field, and although Beaupartir will no doubt be a good favourite, the Issue is more open than in recent years. The win-and-place system will again be in use, and the following horses are likely to be well supported:— Rimu Highweight Handicap: Sir Nigel, Prime Quality, Lustral. Trial Plate: Improvident, Ruling Star, Yours Truly. St Leger Stakes: Beaupartir, Capricious.

Pacific Handicap: Moorsotis, Beau yite. Gayest Son. Thompson Handicap: Trench Fight, Royal Chief, Dictate. Tinakori Hack Handicap: Great Plight, Trebor, White Gold. Railway Handicap; Counterblast, Suleiman. Lady Leigh. SUverstream Hack Handicap: Wild Talk, Red Witch, Hinerawe. The programme is as follows: —
