CROSSBREDS MOVE HIGHER MERINOS FIRM KEEN DEMAND FROM HOME • TRADE (united PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT.) LONDON, March 14. The second series of London wool sales lor 1939 commenced with. an , offering of 7237 bales, of which 4937 came from New Zealand; and 6587 were sold. There was a good selection, chiefly of crossbreds, which met a keen demand, and a good clearance resulted, mostly to the Home trade. Compared with the close of last series, merinos were at par, crossbreds generally in sellers’ favour, and slipes par to 5 per cent, higher. New Zealand lots sol'd as follows; — Greasy crossbreds, Iluru, 9d to 10d, C.E.8., 83d to 93d; slipe halfbred lambs, Gear, 13d. FOREIGN EXCHANGES (BRITISH OFFICIAL WIRELESS.)
