DEFENCE FORCE IN AUSTRALIA
RECOMMENDATIONS MADE TO GOVERNMENT (Received March 15, 7 p.m.) SYDNEY, March 15. The Inspector-General of the Australian Military Forces, Lieu-tenant-General Squires, in a report to the Federal Government, emphasises the importance of establishing the militia on a sound formation in order that it could meet a major form of aggression. Other recommendations,' which have been approved by the Federal Government, include lower retiring ages for officers and a supplementary list to which officers can be transferred at a special rate of pay.
