An official Czech communique

states: “To-day the legal Czechoslovak Union disappears and each begins a separate existence. The Czechs have never showed unfriendly feeling towards the Slovaks. We shall always remember our friendly association. The new dispensation cannot divide the hearts of people who lived together for 20 years.” The Czech President (Dr. Hacha) and the Foreign Minister (M. Chvalkovsky) have gone to Berlin to see Herr Hitler, after which the Prague Cabinet may be reconstructed. M. Durcanski’s Slovak Free Corps, formed in Germany, has entered Slovakia. Durcanski has sent Notes to all governments announcing the creation of the new State under Dr. Tiso’s leadership, asking for diplomatic recognition.
