MAGISTRATES COURT
WEDNESDAY (Before Mr F. F. Reid, S.M.) GAFFING TROUT Charged by the North Canterbury Acclimatisation Society with gaffing trout in the Sclwyn river, George Watt, of Bligh street, who pleaded not guilty, was convicted and fined 10s. He was also ordered to pay Court costs and solicitor’s fees, amounting to £2 7s 6d. Mr M. J. Gresson appeared for the society. FIGHTING IN STREET Arthur Jim Bruff. a horse dentist, of Bangor street, and Richard Eden, of Worcester street, a labourer, pleaded not guilty to a charge of fighting in a public place. Eden, who was represented by Mr D. W. Russell, also pleaded not guilty to a charge of using obscene language. Both were convicted and Bruff was fined 30s and ordered to pay costs. Eden was fined 10s on the charge of fighting, and £3 on the charge of using obscene language, in default 10 days’ imprisonment. He was ordered to pay costs on both
