Anxious.—Divorce proceedings can be taken for a pauper (in forma pauperis) according to Mr P. J. Jones, maintenance officer at the Magistrate’s Court in Christchurch, to whom your letter was referred. It is necessary to see a barrister to find out whether there is a reasonable case for action, whether on the ground of separation or of desertion. The amount of the fee for a divorce when proceedings are taken in forma pauperis Is between £5 and £6.
