The Batley by-election resulted:— H. Beaumont (Labour) .. 20,020 W. Wills (Conservative) .. 16,124 Majority for Beaumont .. 3,896 At the 1935 General Election the voting was W. Brooke (Labour) 21,182; W. D. Wills (Conservative) 18,354. Majority for Brooke 2828.
