fIEW ZEALAND CENTENARY
ATTENDANCE OF 5000 EXPECTED
“In a country like ours, where an event such as this takes place, we feel that it is an excellent opportunity to strengthen the ties with kindred societies. Toe H, especially has shown a keen intreest. and members have signified their willingness to help us in any way they can, both before and during the jamboree.” said Mr J. E. F. Vogel, deputy camp chief, at a recent meeting of the committee of the New Zealand Centennial Scout Jamboree, at Wellington. Special assistance was offered by the Toe H movement in the auxiliary camp for crippled children, be said. The dates for the jamboree have been fixed at December 27. 1939, to January 11, 1940. The site chosen is 100 acres of land at Heretaunga, about 14 miles from Wellington. The committee expects that there will be about 5000 scouts at the jamboree, and hopes that at least 700 of these will be overseas scouts. The organisation is in the hands of a team of men. part of which is centralised at the Jamboree Office at Wellington, on the administrative side, the rest- being from all parts of the Dominion oh the executive side.
