APPEASEMENT ON EARTH
Not long ago the Nations heard A fresh and fascinating Word When Chamberlain politely purred His Programme of Appeasement: The Chancelleries pricked their Ears, The best, they said, we've heard for Years; Away with Jealousies and Fears, There's Nothing like Appeasement! The World is done for evermore With vulgar terms'like Peace and War; The Diplomats hove fallen for , The Magic of Appeasement: A Plan for Peace might have to wait For Threats and Violence to abate. But they are Quite appropriate To Measures of Appeasement. Though Powers desperately arm No Patriot should feel Alarm Nor query. Why? O that would harm The Progress of Appeasement!
(SFECIAIXT WHITTEN FOB THE PHESS.) IBy WHIM-WHAM.] 1 **. . . The Prime Minister, though labouring earnestly at the bellows, finds the flame of appeasement only flickering lower.”—The New York “Herald-Tribune” on “Appeasement Without Peace.”
While Mussolini roars in Spain And Hitler helps himself again. All Praise and Thanks to Chamberlain, The Author of Appeasement! When Europe's Fires are blazing high And Capitals in Ruins lie. How pleasant it will be to die To bring about Appeasement: And Chamberlain, surviving then Beneath a bomb-proof No. 10, Will issue from his stuffy Den Proposals for Appeasement! This Mumbo-Jumbo has not eased The Torments of a World diseased That does not want to be appeased But babbles of Appeasement: And from the Turmoil and the Mess We hear them prophesy Success, The Men who make a Wilderness And hail it as Appeasement!
