FORM OF CENTENNIAL MEMORIAL
CONFERENCE OF AUCKLAND BODIES

December 22Further steps to decide upon tla# form of Auckland's principal centennial memorial were taken at a conference of local bodies in the metropolitan area to-night. The conference was called as a result c.£ the decision of a previous conference to ask local bodies il they would agree to associate themselves In a combined endeavour for the provision of such a memorial.
It was decided to-m-hi t> set up an executive of Chy Council representatives and Mac or? and chairmen of local bodies to consider the fv.rni >_l a memorial and report recommendations to a plenary conference of local body representative's en March 1. The senior Magistrate in Auckland (Mr \V. R. McKean. S.M.* was invited to act as chairman. It was also decided to invite written public suggestions, returnable by Januarv 10.
