APPARENT RECOVERY FROM ATTACK
ROME, December 21. This morning the Pope had apparently recovered from his heart attack. He gave an audience to the Secretary of State (Cardinal Pacelli) which lasted for half an hour, heard a sermon and gave three private audiences. He then gave an audience to a number of students.
AIR RAID PRECAUTIONS IN BELGIUM
BRUSSELS, December 21. Seeking emergency procedure in the Senate for a bill dealing with air raid precautions the Minister for Defence (General Denis) said: “The reason for this request is that the international situation is evolving more and more in a direction which is hardly favourable to Belgium.” The bill was adopted by 105 votes to 3.
