To commemorate the success of Mr Neville Chamberlain in averting war, Mr William Parkinson, a popular Blackpool (England) sportsman, has offered to build 12 houses for returned soldiers. The houses will be presented to the corporation, and the soldiers and their families will live in them rent free. Mr Parkinson’s solicitors expressed the view in making the offer that as many towns as possible should do something by way of a tribute to Mr Chamberlain. Mr Parkinson, who is chairman of the Blackpool Football Club and president of the cricket club, is a brother of the late Sir Lindsay Parkinson former Mayor of Blackpool, and first M.P. of the borough.
