THE MAYOR’S FUND
TO THE EDITOR Or THE PRESS Sir,—ls there such an association as the Mayor’s Social Service Association? If so, is that body really responsible for the recent distribution of funds? At one time the Mayor was the sole judge of who should benefit by what was, I think, wrongly called the Mayor’s Fund. Moneys contributed by the public should not, in any circumstances, be left to the disposal of any one man, not even the Mayor. Through “The - Press,” others and myself made a protest against the one Ynan distribution, and soon after a change was made and others were associated with the Mayor. Could you inform the public of the personnel of the body now supposed to distribute the funds to the distressed? —Yours, etc..
CONTRIBUTOR. December 17, 1938. [When this letter was referred to the Mayor (Mr R, M. Macfarlane), he said that he had no comment to make.]
