CHILD FOUND DROWNED
TRAGEDY AT SUMNER
Raymond Arthur Charles Richards, aged 21 months, whose parents, Mr and Mrs Charles Richards, live at Wakefield avenue, Sumner, was found drowned at his home about 1 p.m. yesterday. The discovery was made by the mother, who found the child lying with its head in a sump outside the kitchen.
Dr. R. F. Bakewell, of Sumner, was called in, but nothing could be done to save the child. An inquest will be held at Sumner at 4.30 p.m. to-day.
YOUNG MAN FOUND SHOT

AUCKLAND* December 21. Soon after eight o'clock to-night Boyre Clark McConachy, aged 20, a labourer, the eldest son of Mr Clark McConachy, of Mount Eden, was found shot on a bed with a .22 rifle beside him. Mr McConachy. sen., is the wellknown New Zealand billiards player. After tea Boyre McConachy, his brother, and their father went on to the back lawn to practise archery, of which they are all fond. The elder son went back to the house. Not long afterwards his younger brother found him on the bed with a bullet wound below the heart.
