FIRE IN TIMBER YARD

OUTBREAK EARLY THIS MORNING

The Central Fire Brigade received a call to an outbreak of fire in a drying kiln in the Addington Timber Company's yard, at Addington about 12.30 a.m. to-day. The fire started in a small box used to house an electric motor in the gable of the building, and spread to the= roof, which is packed with sawdust.

The prompt arrival of two engines from the Central Station and one from the Sydenham Station prevented any serious damage being caused, and the outbreak was quickly extinguished. A large quantity of timber was stored in the yard, which covers an area of about 10 acres.
