MAGISTRATE'S COURT
Mr F. F. Reid, S.M., presided at the Magistrate's Court yesterday. For breaches of traffic regulations the following penalties were imposed, defendants being ordered to pay costs, except where otherwise stated. No driver's licence —Fritz Raymond Baldwin 10s; John Albert Carlyon, ss. Exceeding speed limit—Dudley Campbell McArthur, 10s. . Failing to give way to a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing—George Kenneth Court Patience. ss. No warrant of fitness—John Albert Carlyon, costs only. Driving a car at night without lights —Raymond Patrick Miller. ss. For being in possession of unlicensed radios. Victor Regan was fined 10s. George Smart ss, and Vera Cawsdale ss. Each of the defendants was also ordered to pay costs. Judgment for the Dlaintiff by default was given in the following civil cases: —B. H. Gilmour v. M. K. Lester. £2 5s 6d: Forbes (N.Z.). Ltd.. v. F. Bartlett, £3 8s 9d. Personal Mr Keith Louttit. who is leaving the service of the Lyttelton Borough Council, was met yesterday afternoon by members of the staff of the electricity department of the council and pre- • sented with a wristlet watch. The presentation was made by Mr R. JN. Thomas, borough electrical engineer.
