FIRST VISIT TO LYTTELTON
UJJ*ON COMPANY'S MATUA DUE TO-MORROW
The Union Company's motor-ship Matua will make her first visit to Lyttelton to-morrow, when she will arrive from Wellington to discharge a part cargo of bananas. She is to sail the same day for Wellington. Launched from the shipyard of R. and W. Hawthorn, Leslie Company, Ltd., Hebburn-on-Tyne, on March 25, 1936, the Matua entered the service between Auckland and Rarotonga in August of that year. Up till 1.932 the service had been maintained by the company's Tofua. The Matua was specially designed for the islands trade and has accommodation for 40 passengers.
