PRIESTS AND DEACONS FOR CITY

LARGE CONGREGATION AT CATHEDRAL

Five deacons and three priests were ordained in the Cathedral yesterday by Bishop West-Watson. They will take up duties immediately in city and suburban parishes. The deacons ordained were: The Rev. R P. Andrews (to be curate at Fendalton). the Rev. H. H. Fountain (to be curate at St. Matthew's. St. Albans), the Rev. B. C. Holden (to be curate at Sydenham), the Rev. C. S. Knight (to be curate at St. Luke's), and the Rev. M. L. Wiggins (to be curate at .Merivale).

The three priests ordained were the Rev. R. F. N. Thompson (assistant at Sumner), the Rev. B. H. Williams (to be assistant at Rangiora), and the Rev. J. D. Froud (to be assistant at Sydenham). The candidates were presented for ordination by the bishop's examining chaplain, the Rev. E. A. Osmers. The epistle was read by the Ven. Archdeacon A. K. Warren, and the Gospel by one of the candidates, the Rev. M. L. Wiggins. The Litany was read by the Rev. F. R. Rawle. The Cathedral organist, Mr C. Foster Browne, was at the organ. A sermon was preached by the Rev. I. L. Richards, vicar of St.' Luke's. There was a large congregation at the ceremony.
