GRANT OF £6O
RETURNED MEN BENEFIT BY COMMUNITY SINGING
Receipt of a grant of £6O from the Mayor's Fund, part of the proceeds from community sings during the year, was acknowledged by the executive of the Christchurch branch of the Returned Soldiers' Association last night. The employment officer of the association reported that employment registrations in the last fortnight had totalled 278, against 282 for the preceding two weeks. Subsidised work had been found for 88 men. The general assistance committee reported dealing with 103 applications, an increase of 22 since the last meeting.
