AVONSIDE GIRLS’ HIGH SCHOOL

ANNUAL SPORTS MEETING The weather was fine for the annual athletic sports of the Avonside Girls’ High School, which were held at the school grounds yesterday. The senior championship cup was won by Lucy Andrews with 17 points. The second and third places were gained by Helen Butler with 16 points, and Dell Turner 15 points. The junior championship cup was won by Dorothy Alford 20 points, second and third being Betty Glass 19 points and Margaret Campbell 15 points. Randolph House won the House games cup and also the cup for the house gaining most points. Trophies for points gained in jumping events resulted:— Senior: Dell Turner and Heather McAuley (equal wth 10 points each). Junior: Dorothy Alford, 10 ponts. Mrs A. E. Flower presented the cups and trophies at the conclusion of the sports, when the girls marched up the field in their houses and halted in front of the school.
