THEATRE WORKERS’ DISPUTE
* LITTLE PROGRESS REPORTED (FB,£S3 ASSOCIA.TIOK TELEGRAM.) WELLINGTON, September 28. For the fifth time this year, the Front of House Theatre Workers’ dispute was before a Conciliation Council to-day. The award is to cover the Northern. Taranaki. Wellington, Marlborough, and Canterbury -industrial districts, The hearing will be continued to-morrow. . , Little progress was made to-day. Most of the day was taken up with discussions on wages. The following clauses regarding hours of work were agreed to: The employers shall be at liberty to • fix. weekly hours of work for their respective employees, according to the exigencies of the particular theatre, which shall not exceed'36-hours' in the case; of ticket takers, doorkeepers, ushers, and other' theatre attendants (other than caretakers . and cleaners), and ih the case of ticketselling 32 hours a week. In no . case shall more than six hours be worked in any one day without payment of overtime. The worker shall not be called upon to work less than two hours in connexion with any one performance.
