The Wellington Rugby representatives for the southern tour, on which there will be matches with Southland, Otago, South Canterbury, and Canterbury in that order, has been chosen by Mark Nicholls as follows:—Backs, Fleming, Edwards, Fulton, Burns, Eastwood, Jones, Sargisson, Veitch, and O’Halloran; forwards, Gilmour, McNicol, Burke, Higglun, Todd, Fraser, Smith, Griffin, Gunn, Wales, Pringle, Cemong. Those not available are Wright, Tindill, Griffiths, and Lambourn, but it is probable an effort will be made to send one or possibly two of them down for the match with Otago.

[THE PRESS Special Service.] TIMARU, September 2. An exciting game is expected at Fraser Park. Timaru, this afternoon, when the Hawke's Bay and South Canterbury representative Rugby teams will meet. Injuries on the tour have made some difference to the visiting side, which will be without the services of P. Reid, fiveeighths, who was injured in the Ranfurly Shield match ft Dunedin on Wednesday, of Tori Reid, forward, who is suffering from a fractured rib, and of Colin Le Quesne, who had to return north after the match at Dunedin. However, the side will still be a strong one. The South Canterbury representatives are in good form and are confident of making the visitors play hard to win. The teams are as follows: — Hawke’s Bay Full-back: M. Dyer. Three-quarters: R. Fox, R. Devine, E. Apsey. Fve-cighths: E. Palmer, L. Bradley (first). Half-back: L Clothier (captain). Back row: J. From the tour of the New Zealand Maori team to Fiji the Rugby Union will benefit by from £7OO to £BOO, said Mr S. S. Dean, the manager, when the team returned by the Monterey. Mr Dean said the tour had been a success from every angle. “The stand* ard of the Fijian teams was much higher than we were led to believe,” he said. “Though they lacked the Oner essentials of the game, they made uo in physical fitness and speed.
